How To Get Rid of Styes: Curing a Stye Within 2 Days

DISCOVER HOW TO GET RID OF STYES NOW!

Hey Guys,

Thanks for taking the time to read my webpage about curing a stye within a couple of days. My Grandma showed me this technique when I had a stye as a kid and it’s worked for me and my family every time we’ve used it – so, chances are, it’ll work for you, too!

There’s three simple steps to getting rid of your stye, so follow the procedure below and come tomorrow (or in two days at the very latest) your stye will be gone.

NOTE: Please excuse the poor quality of my pictures – I’m rubbish at art!

STEP 1: WASH YOUR HANDS AND FACE

Step 1: Wash Your Hands & Face

Step 1: Wash Your Hands & Face

Give your hands and face a good scrub with soap and water (or antibacterial handwash if you have some) to remove dirt and bacteria. Be gentle around the eye with the stye.

STEP 2: SOAK A FLANNEL IN HOT WATER

STEP 2: Soak a Flannel in Hot Water

Step 2: Soak a Flannel in Hot Water

Thoroughly soak a wet flannel in water from the hot tap. The should be quite hot but not so hot that it burns. Squeeze the flannel so that it is not dripping wet.

STEP 3: HOLD THE FLANNEL AGAINST YOUR EYE

Step 3 - Hold the flannel against your eye

Step 3 - Hold the flannel against your eye

Hold the wet n’ warm flannel against your eye (the one with the stye). Hold it in place firmly and apply a little pressure for 3 to 4 minutes. This will cause the blood vessels around the stye to expand slightly and help the fluids drain from they stye.

STEP 4: REPEAT 4 TIMES A DAY

Step 4 - Repeat 4 times a day

Step 4 - Repeat 4 times a day

Repeat steps 1-3 at least 4 times a day. The schedule I tend to use is:

  1. In the morning, when I wake up
  2. After lunch
  3. After evening dinner
  4. Before I go to bed

In 9 out of 10 cases, the ‘Hot Compress’ procedure described above will cure a stye within a day. In the other 1 out of 10 cases (it will probably be a particularly stubborn stye) but shouldn’t take more than two days.

If your stye still isn’t cured after three days, I would suggest visiting your doctor who will be able to give you further specialized advice. You may have picked up a secondary infection and require antibiotics or it could be that you have a chalazion, which requires different treatments.

If you mean, do you squeeze the flannel so that it is not dripping wet before applying it to your eye, thn the answers is yes (although it is not essential). I’ve updated the instruction accordingly :)

If the pain has gone but you still have a lump, then your stye may have developed into a chalazion, which are longer-lasting and a little trickier to get rid of.

You’ll probably need to consult your doctor but check out my article on how to get rid of a chalazion.

It sounds as though it may have developed into a chalazion, which are longer-lasting but don’t cause any pain. You should go to your doctor to be sure who may be able to cut it out for you (it’s simple procedure that’s performed under local anesthetic and doesn’t leave any scarring). Check out my article ‘How to get rid of a chalazion‘ for more details.

I’ve not heard of a saltwater compress for styes before, so would recommend sticking with just tapwater as it has a proven success rate. If you do decide to try it out though, do let me know if you have any success.

Hi Danny! Ryan here from the Philippines. I had my 1st stye last August and my 2nd just healed today as we speak. Warm compress really works. In my 1st stye, i just let the stye pop and took me 1-2 weeks. But for my 2nd stye, it appears yesterday(sept 8) and did your warm compress until the next day(sept 9) and it pops unintentionally 1 hr ago while doing the warm compress+ a little bit of pressure. Also i had eye cream(Fucithalmic) to helps the pus show faster.

do you have the link on how to prevent stye?

    Thanks & God bless!

I like your description. I have two styes on the same spot. It hurt really bad every time I blinked, and I told anyone who cared to listen that it felt like a tiny fist punching my eye when I blinked, lol. I’ve been doing hot compresses for 2 days (I’ve had them a week), and today one burst during the compress. Feels SOOOO much better…

Maggs,Hello I have used the teabags for years its a old family remedy and it works in 2 days. You have to boil the teabags for at least 5 minutes and get a face cloth soak it with the tea Full Strenght and make sure its as warm as possible and put in on the effected eye its better if some tea gets in your eye that’ll bring all the puss/infection out and keep on for at least 5 minutes and do this again at least 3 times a day for 2 days you’ll have the yellow stuff on your eye in the morning but wash it with the warm tea very gently,….Good Luck and Gods Speed.

I have never got on tell today and reading this site and many others I believe I got it from a stuffed up nose I have been rubbing for almost 2 weeks. I just started the warm water and it feels good I was putting a ice pack on it for the discomfort and swelling. Big mistake it felt the same right after I took the ice off. Your way feels better during and for a while after. Thanks for the set by pictures you made sure everyone understood for those not quit good readers

Hi just read ur article on stye removal. Well heres my story: :)
So i had a stye on my lower eyelid for about 4 months!!! Yehh i knoww:(
Well after taking antibiotics and applying them too. It still didnt go away:(
Sooo i thought of getting it removed. Which i did yesterday!! So today the dr
Removed my band aid. Gave me some painkillers cuz it hurt! And ointment to apply
The problem is all is cleaned from the inside. But the bump outside is still there!!!!
The dr said it’ll take about 5-7 days to vanish so u keep doing the hot compresses and applying the ointment. I know its only the second day since i got it operated but its frustrating! Why didnt the bump go??!! Plz helpp

      11/10/30

A stye is caused by a blocked gland that becomes infected. The antibiotics will have got rid of the infection but it sounds as the blockage remains (the clogged gland is usually caused by a microscopic piece of dead skin). The gland continues to produce oil, which remains beneath the skin creating a lump. A blocked gland usually resolves itself within a week and can heal quicker using the compress. If you have it for longer than a week, it could have developed into a chalazion (search this website for info on chalazia), which will need to be surgially removed by your doctor. Hope this helps :)
